Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) systems convert low temperature and waste heat as low as 185 F into clean electricity. Since hot water is the fuel, benefits include reduced fuel consumption and emissions, increased power output, net-zero cooling, flare elimination, and more.
The Power+ Generator, our heat to power solution, is designed to generate clean electricity from sources of low temperature heat. The Power+ Generator also doubles as a combined heat and power (CHP) unit, generating up to 185 F of usable thermal energy in addition to electricity.
Currently available in the 65 kW and 200 kW sizes, the Power+ Generator is ideal for small to mid-scale applications. With a 300 kW size in development coupled with the units’ scalable design, any size operation now has the ability to upcycle their waste heat into usable power. The Power+ Generator comes either as a standalone unit or system package. For projects with easy access to hot water – such as engine jacket water, boiler systems, or geothermal sources – a standalone unit may be all you need. For larger applications utilizing higher temperature heat, we provide fully-packaged system options.
Hydrogen technology is advancing to the forefront of not just carbon neutrality, but a completely carbon-free society. Microturbines are uniquely positioned as a distributed energy source to be located at the source of hydrogen generation. The technology can be deployed immediately, without the need to wait for extensive infrastructure modernization and hydrogen specific upgrades. This unique advantage means customers will be able to operate carbon-free sooner, while also providing a flexible, resilient energy source that provides both power and thermal energy all day, every day of the year. This can be particularly advantageous in highly efficient combined heat and power systems (CHP) as a part of a microgrid, with excess renewable generation used to produce green hydrogen through electrolysis.
